Runways 7 and 25 (no displaced thresholds with clear approaches)

Special Considerations or Operations

Winds are normally strong and change direction frequently. 

Airstrip high on bluff near Lake Superior

Recommend early or late arrivals and departures when winds speeds are lower

Fly approaches and land at minimum safe airspeed

This is a challenging airstrip,not for the low time or beginner pilot

This airstrips surface is rough and undulating, minimum safe landing airspeed is necessary, be prepared for more than one touchdown and landing per attempt. Throw in some serious winds and crosswinds and your piloting skills will be tested.

Airstrip low on both ends watch for hidden aircraft landing or departing.

Safety of pilots, passengers, bystanders and aircraft

Announce intentions before taxi on 122.9 

Watch for birds, deer, wildlife, people, ATV's on airstrip or in vicinity

Avoid flying west over Nat. Lakeshore below 2,000 agl and or 2,000ft horizontal from shoreline.
